04.4.2007 DMW Announces Prominence Adventure Game
Digital Media Workshop, Inc. is proud to announce Prominence, a new point-and-click adventure game scheduled for release in 2008.
Set in a futuristic universe, Prominence uses a first-person panoramic viewpoint with animated effects. The player awakens in a strange yet somehow familiar high-tech facility of some kind, and what begins as simple exploration soon twists and turns its way into an evolving mystery that is revealed by physical clues, audio recordings, data archives, and a damaged central computer system in need of repairs.
The game’s official Web site is now online at http://www.prominencegame.com and contains more information about the game, including concept art, story details, and more. Visitors can also sign-up for the Prominence newsletter, which will offer the latest news about the game and behind-the-scenes information about the production.
03.6.2007 Tom Griffith Looks Back 40 Years Later
Long-time producer, former jingle maven and Mom & Pop Records' artist Tom Griffith has put the finishing touches on his latest CD release, 40 Years Later. Most of the album was recorded and mixed here at DMW, and was co-produced by Mike Morrison.
The album focuses on life as a baby boomer, and while it is not entirely autobiographical, the subject matter will be quite identifiable to anyone who grew up during the '60's and early '70's. The psychedelically-inspired "She Was A Strange Girl" offers a whimsical look at the 'first drug experience' that many encountered during the sixties, while "No Love Is Free" turns the concept of 'free love' on its ear after a bitter divorce.
It's not all tongue-in-cheek, though. The honest sentiment of tracks like "Rising Sun" and "Every Once In A While" provide gentle reminders of what truly matters, and contrast nicely against the driving intensity and dense arrangements of "Just Got Away From Me" and "Still Lookin' Over My Shoulder".
40 Years Later includes 12 tracks. The finished mixes were mastered at Classic Sound in NYC.
Sound clips from the album can be accessed via the album's Web site at http://www.40yearslater.com.
